Diaby Stars As Arsenal Win : The Blackpool Player Ratings.

Surprise start by Lehmann who replaced the ill/injured(depending on who you believe) Almunia. Diaby, Eboue, Fabregas came in for Song, Theo & sagna. 2 goals in each half saw Arsenal run away with the 3 points. Below are the ratings.

Mad Jens- 7.5
Second First debut for the overly eccentric german. Handled himself well, came out and dealt with crosses, even composed enough to round an on rushing blackpool striker and a good save after Clichy faltered.

Eboue 7.5
Stunning finish from the much maligned overly loved fullback. Ran the wings well and put in one or two tackles and also caught out of position. Good day.

Squillaci 8
High rating because of that last ditch tackle that preceded the 3rd goal. With the game at 2-1 and Blackpool one shot away from levelling, he came through BIG. Probably his first ever tackle since joining Arsenal.

Koscielny7
Was comfortable against the threat of just one Blackpool forward. He was ok throughout and covered well for Clichy.

Clichy6
Would have gotten a 7, but the stupid lapse in concentration in the dying minutes of the game could have cost us. He seems to do it every season, remember City & B’ham a few years back.

Wilshere7
Solid going forward and defending, found himself on the wrong end of the oppositions tackling but his character shone through. Picked up a booking trying to prevent a counter.

Diaby8.5
I think the last time diaby got a rating this high must have been in a Fifa 11 video game. Started the game on fire, profiting from good build up play between Cesc, RVP, Arshavin. He was immense in the midfield and stupidly picked up a booking but showed considerable strength & grit in the second 45.

Fabregas8
Pass after pass, lob after lob, he lost me with his precision and decision making and the number of chances he created in the opening half alone. Set Theo on his way for the assist to RVP’s goal and Arsenal’s 3rd. Good outing.

Nasri7
Not his best game for Arsenal, but for the goalkeeper he would have gotten his name on the score sheet.

Arshavin6.5
Was more out of the game than in the game. Posed little threat but he defended well.

Van Persie7
On another day he could have scored 5. Poor refereeing coupled with profligate finishing cost him. Made amends after being offered a good assist by the speedy Theo

SUBSTITUTES

Walcott7
Came on with the game finely poised and he turned it on its head with his pace and laid on the winning goal for RVP after great play by Eboue, Cesc & Diaby.

Man of the MatchAbou Diaby

Good to see us pick up a vital and necessary win. The gap is back to seven points with a game in hand.
From wherever you’re reading have a great day.

  1. Top top post…spot on ratings. But Cesc was my own Man of the Match…Diaby had an excellent game too, maybe my love for Cesc is the reason for my choice.

  2. Something tells me wit lemamn in goal we should be home & dry d defence should really be up & doing.D strickers should take there chances very important.

  3. maybe a little high for the squilla…he should have had a look around on the 1st goal…completely missed the run…and also missed the tackles that lead to the shoulda been pen from Koscielny…
i give them both a solid 7, they had a shakey moment or two each but all in all dealt with the pressure well…
Amazing to see what a difference abou can be alongside a healthy cesc…they are so very compatible. if cesc does go i feel abou has to go too because he sucks without cesc alongside him! But brilliant performance from them both today

  4. 1st time I’ve seen Diaby contribute anything to Arsenal – I hope this performance doesn’t cement his place in the team. I’m still hoping he goes this summer along with Denilson & Squillaci. He has had more than his fair number of chances and has proven to be far to lazy off the ball & cost us in many games this season. Don’t be fooled by 1 game folks!

  5. Kanjari ma k loro

    Fuck ya all

  6. @ cupsui the infamous arsenal blogs thug, you’re back. Good to see you. For once why not drop a positive comment. That said, I think the person is refusing to be swayed by just one solid performance from diaby & squillaci. Consistency is what we’re clamouring for. And we’re happy with a win but more of relief than joy.

    • a good game!! a win…try to enjoy it mate…i’ve said for a long while that when diaby plays alongside cesc he is a different player…we lose cesc he isn’t much use to us…but with cesc around and on the pitch he is very handy
i’d love consistency too but support such as what the blackpool faithful showed today might help a little too…instead people still feel the need to complain about everything even when we win…that don’t make sense…good to see you too bosun…whoever you are :)

  7. @cupsui yes we shouldn’t complain all the time. I even tweeted it that we’re playing against 12 players as the blackpool supporters were fantastic and I’ll give anything for all arsenal fans to be that way. But you can’t please everyone. Whether we Win or not those that will find something to complain about will always complain. Good to hear Kroenke’s in advanced talks about a takeover. What say you on this???

  8. sounds bad to me…another yank taking over…someone said the other day that they would give anything to keep arsenal turning into another “trainset of rich tycoons” thats all it is to them…i hope arsenals spending power doesn’t dramatically increase, otherwise we turn into another city/chelsea, thats not football its a joke. Developing and growing a team is the way things are meant to be done, playing the ball on the ground is the best game to watch! these are the big reasons why i’m a gooner…today’s game was brilliant SO entertaining at both ends! overall the team did really well in a hostile atmosphere and like you said how good would it be if the emrites could be like that…now that is something to complain about evidenced by our poor home record…its like that jerk sporting father who tells his son he better perform or else…trying to live his dreams through him, son goes out scared looks around and he sees a silent sullen father standing there and gets more scared and feels more pressure (home games – no atmosphere), plays poorly, then dad doesn’t come to a game in another town just a few of the “committed” parents who love the game and cheer along (arsenal away games) no pressure on the kid and he plays out of his skin!

see i’m not all bad…just love the beautiful game and the arsenal philosophy and get tired of people complaining to no end even when the team is beating the “trainset” teams…at the moment this negativity flowing through arsenal fans is spreading like the plague and it makes having a enjoyable post game blog a lot less so when its all misery and half empty cups

  9. Wow. I’m lost for words. I think I’ll save your last comment. Its easy to complain from the sidelines and ask for funds repeatedly not knowing what’s happening in the background. If only those interested in takeovers could just donate funds and not have any ties whatsoever with the club. Then life would be easy. Infact I just got an idea for the next post on which I’ll talk about the prospective takeover. Glad to know you’re not all bad & just passionate about the club. Loved the picture you painted about the father & son, says the story of majority the arsenal fans. Good one mate

  10. DR EZEUKWU EMMANUEL

DIABY LIKE DENILSON ARE GOOD ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS WHO ONLY FAILS THE FANS IF WRONGLY POSITIONED IN THE DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD POSITIONS.THEY LIKE FABRIGAS NEED TO PLAY INFRONT OF A MARKING AN DEFENDING MIDFIELDER IN THE MIDFIELD FOR THEM TO DO WELL.INFACT A SUPPORTING STRIKER ROLE WILL BE GOOD FOR THE DUO AS WELL AS BOTH SHOOT WELL TO GET TARGET AND DIABY EXPECIALLY IS GIFTED IN PHYSIQUE AND GIFTED IN USING BODY MOVEMENT TO DISPLACE OPPONENTS ATIMES IN THEIR NUMBERS.DENILSON IS ALSO PACY AND QUICK IN THE ATTACK AREA.THESE QUALITIES ARE GOOD IN GETTING GOALS SCORED RATHER THAN DEFEND.ANOTHER QUALITY DIABY HAS GOING FOR HIM IS THAT IN THE ATTACK LINE HE IS ALWAYS TRYING TO TAKE GOAL SCORING POSITIONS EACH TIME HEIS NOT WITH THE BALL AS ARSENAL IS ADVANCING IN ATTACK.SO DENILSON AND DIABY SHOULD BE MADE TO CONTINUE WITH ARSENAL. IF SONG IS SIDELINED BY INJURY A CENTRAL DEFENDER WHO IS GOOD IN MIDFIELD DISTIBUTION LIKE DJOUROU SHOULD PLAY AT THE DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD POSITION.BETTER STILL WENGER AND THE ARSENAL BOARD SHOULD BUY A SUBTITUTE FOR SONG

  11. I wasn’t being negative capsui – of course i enjoyed the win. Im a passionate gooner & im usually the one on forums defending players & defending Wenger. I just cringe when people base their opinions of a player on one game. This week Diaby is ‘brilliant’ because of 1 goal. People need to pause before getting carried away with endless superlatives to describe a player who has played well below par this season. I’m very glad we had a win & always stick by my team but i would be even happier if we won some trophies & Diaby in perticular has too often cost us games this season preventing us from winning. Everyone has an opinion (some are based on 1 game) i’m just putting mine into the mix.

  12. fair enough…but credit where credit is due…he had a great game not just the goal…
i think its been his worst season, through injuries (to himself and cesc…cause lets face it he isn’t the same player w/o cesc in the team) and of course the barton controversy!! but hope they both stay fit cause if the gunners are gonna take the title they all need to be fit and playing well and confident…here’s hoping hey!
