Season Review : Arsenal Tops And Flops

Top of the morning to you all from wherever you are, let’s take your mind away from the RVP saga, news that Wilshere is set to have another minor operation with today’s post.  The season ended last week in dramatic fashion as we can all remember. So we had our authors (Bosun, Yemi and Leke) sit down and give us their post season thoughts. The following questions were given to them and based on their different personalities, their answer are below. Enjoy:

1. DO YOU CONSIDER 3RD PLACE AN ACHIEVEMENT?

Bosun:

Considering the injuries, the poor summer activities and the lack of a decent back up striker I’d say NO. Yes, NO. No I mean NO. 300 Spartans won the war, surely winning the league was an easier task and we blew it.

Yemi:

No. Chelsea has won the FA cup and are playing in the UCL final. They decide whether or not they go to Europe. As for Liverpool and Spurs, when was the last time we finished below them to be happy about finishing above them this year? We are not a club who should be looking down and being happy that we finished above xyz.

Leke:

Quite the achievement actually and I reckon, had either of Fabregas and Nanas stayed, we likely would’ve won the league thanks to a run much contrary to the one from the opening seven matches.

 2. BEST MOMENT LAST SEASON?

B:

Sagna getting injured, Coquelin following after that. Mertesacker too, then Gibbs & Santos. It’s like clockwork every season. As much as every of Van Persie’s goals should be the best moment, the neat and tidy work of the irrepllaceable Arteta in midfield, Alex Song’s now-famed-lobbed-passes to be it RVP or Walcott and Koscielny’s top notch displays did it for me.

Y:

Loss at Old Trafford. If we had not lost by that margin, Wenger would not have known how shite we were.

L:

The win over 5pur2 and Ch3l5ea are second and third respectively behind the moment when Song lobbed the ball over the Kop defence. I’d kept faith that we’d get the win at Liverpool and oh what a strike from van Persie to win it at the death.

3. WORST MOMENT?

B:

Thierry Henry leaving us after just 6 weeks. He was our Messiah. I feel Chamakh & Park betrayed him so he had to leave. Bummer.

Y:

Loss at Blakcburn. We were so poor it made my eyes bleed. (see also: Norwich, Swansea, Wigan, QPR, Fulham).

L:

I eight two recollect such moments please… *teary eyed* along with the bitter taste from Milan I was forced to drink down with a four nil.

4. WHO IMPRESSED YOU THE MOST LAST SEASON?

B:

Abou Diaby. No I’m not joking, he managed to stay injured for 98% of the campaign and then each time he played 5 or more minutes, he got injured again. Almunia and Park are tied for 2nd. Managed to pick up about 100k/w for over 10months without actually playing. I need that kind of job.

Y:

Arteta. For 10 million quid, he was an absolute bargain!

L:

Ah! Well… *pretends to go through a list just to keep from saying the obvious too quickly*… quite a number… uhmm… okay okay… Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did! He ties with the obvious choice for me.

5. WHO DISAPPOINTED?

B:

Robin Van Persie. Yes. I placed a bet on him getting 40 goals altogether and he failed. He owes me. How to repay me? Sign a new contract and all will be forgiven.

Y:

Vermaelen. For all his attacking ability, he cost us some games last season. His defending was generally poor.

L:

I’m too much an optimist to see how any of them disappointed just as when le boss goes temporarily blind when the media says a gunner dived or when we clearly should have conceded a penalty.

6. WHAT WOULD YOUR IDEAL SUMMER LOOK LIKE?

B:

a) No injuries to any of the first team players,

b) Chamakh, Park, Squillaci, Allmunia, Bendtner, Vela and Denilson all saying bye bye to the club.

c) Signing Podolski(done), M’vila, Kagawa/Hoiliet.
Oh yeah hopefully when Arsenal comes to Nigeria, I get to see them. Hopefully.

Y:

Keep RVP. Sign M’Vila, a quality LB, and another goal scorer.

Leke :

Oh? *shy grin*… I’d play some football manager, watch the rise of a Dark Knight then spend a week at the Burj al-Arab and make it back just in time to see the lads when they visit Nigeria ^.^

7. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO REALLY HAPPEN?

B:

A & B to happen. C to also happen. I might be a clown but I really expect that. Seeing as Verthogen is going to Spurs, Kagawa United, Hazard-City

Y:

We won’t keep RVP. Wenger will give us the usual bollocks about how tight the market is. We’ll put all our faith in Podolski, Chamakh and Park. Song may leave too, and we’ll expect Coquelin to step in.

L:

I’d play football manager, watch that Dark Knight rise, read confirmed news of Yann M’Vila’s arrival at the club and of Wilshere being fit, finally. Yes, I think M’Vila would be the only other arrival. Oh, there’s Nicklas Bendtner’s likely exit, one that saddens me greatly.

Well there you have it, we all started out the season with different expectations, some higher than others and just like the past 5 seasons, it’s the same outcome again. Trophyless.

We just thought to say thank you to everyone who has read this site, followed us on Twitter and got involved in the comments. It’s a pleasure writing for you beautiful bastards.

P.S – We’ll be unable to post next week as we need to move to a new domain, all in a bid to serve you better.

Our twitter account remains functional though. So if you are not already, follow us on @goonermemoirs for breaking news and updates.

Meanwhile, take some time to leave us with your comments.

Cheers.

Yann M’Vila Uncertain | Walcott Fit | Pat Rice Departs.

With twitter it’s impossible to know whether to believe something or to disbelieve it. Afterall it’s where breaking news happens first these days. From “deal agreed and waiting to be announced” on the M’Vila front to “no deal in place yet, no contact, just interest”.

It’s going to be a long summer as it always is for we gooners, but wait, le boss wants to conclude all (or most) of his business before the start of the European Championships so it won’t be.

Where are my manners, top of the morning to you wherever you are. A lot of has been happening this week regarding the club, both rumors and actual events. The M’Vila deal would still happen, knowing how Wenger operates, he wants it quiet till it’s concluded and then announced officially. Fingers crossed. He’s the player we need.

Oh please spare me the “we have Coquelin and Frimpong and Song” cliche. The former two are at best upcoming players despite the obvious talent they have. Playing with world class players only helps you get better, it doesn’t stunt your growth. If he comes, it would be exciting to see who he replaces in the starting XI.

PAT RICE……
The Arsenal legend departs the club after 44 years of service as a player and as a coach. His career is one laden with success and a loyal servant to the club he is. He’s very much loved within the club and would be missed but I’m sure Steve Bould (the man replacing him) will perform just as good.

Word is Mr Bould is a no nonsense man who is outspoken and respected by all players and even Wenger. Finally we can have someone to shout at Gervinho & Ramsey from the sidelines. \(^_^)/.

THEO WALCOTT & BROM……..
Speedstar Theo is set to recover and play in the curtain closer of the season, should he pass a late fitness test. If he’s fit I say start him. We need all the ammunition from the start. Hopeful the Ox gets to start too. The game against Brom is a must win. No f*cking excuses, no relying on results of the other teams/games. 3 points and 3rd place. Thank you.

“We Did Doubt” – Kozzer
In an interview with France Football, defender Laurent Koscielny is quoted to admitting a feeling we had back then, that the players doubted their abilities and le boss’ following the horrendous start to the season, summed up by that defeat I much 8-2 mention.

“The group was not giving enough for the club and we realised that.” said Kozzer. “We got down to work and we said the things we needed to say. After that, one win, two wins, confidence returns and things follow on from that. The new players were immersed in the group and so on”. Get us one more win Kozzer, so we know it’s real!

I have Options – Vela
The Mexican forward has had quite a good season with Real Sociedad, hitting a dozen goals in for the Basque club in 31 la Liga matches. A form that prompted the ‘prince of the lobbed goals’ to declare his preference of making the move permanent a while ago.

Now however, making his stay there permanent may not happen after the player admitted Sociedad’s budget will likely hinder them from doing just that.

But… “I have more options” said Vela, cushioning the minor setback to an immediate exit from the Arsenal. Going by his form though, him getting a decent club shouldn’t be a problem.

RvP: One More Record to Break
With 30 league goals so far, captain vantastic is at least two goals from setting a new league record of 32 league goals (or more) under the 38-game format. The standing record has Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo tied at 31 goals.

It would be great to have RvP get the goals, to cap a phenomenal season. But I can sense many gooners would rather the goals came from anyone, as long as we get the win at the Hawthorns.

And we’ll be here tomorrow to give a prematch report on the game. Till then have a great day wherever you are.

Arsenal Escape Norwich Fiasco | Bould To Be Wenger’s No 2 | New Kit Launched

Morning to you all from wherever you are, first off I’d like to apologize for not providing any post match reports or player ratings for the Norwich game for the obvious reasons. Reasons such as how inept we are as a team and how we lack ambition and how the team never ends the season well despite this being our easiest run in in years. Please don’t say we were denied penalties, we were awful, the midfield non-existent and Vermaelen, Gibbs & Szczesny were all piss poor. BUT

For whatever reason, Lady Luck smiled on us the following day as our rivals for the 3rd spot both dropped points meaning our destiny is back in our own hands and we must play the game of our lives on the final day of the season and get the 3 points. As someone said, he’ll get Ian Wright & Tony Adams to deliver team talk before the game & at half time.

We’ll come back to how our team is a very poor one and how no one else but Arsene Wenger is at fault for this. One example, United need to win a game and they throw on strikers like Welbeck/Hernandez/Berbatov, City throw on Balotelli/Dzeko, Chelsea, Drogba/Torres, even Spurs have Defoe/Saha. Who do we the Arsenal have? Chamakh & Park and even those two are never introduced. Says a lot. Arteta got injured(and we’ve picked 2 points out of 9) also, we can see how Song is poor defensively. A couple of assists don’t make you a great DM.

NEW NUMBER TWO……..
Pat Rice will step down end of season and despite the options available to the club, they decided to pick from within and Steve Bould the reserve team coach will be Wenger’s no 2.

Will he be like Pat Rice and just let Wenger do his thing or will he be exactly what we need in the backroom, someone that can challenge Wenger and point out his flaws. He was a former defender, will he help improve our defense? I hope so. But then again, Pat Rice too was a defender.

NEW HOME KIT…….
I’d like to start of by saying I don’t like this kit, they tried to do too much and involved all the colors on the badge. The blue and white hoops by the sleeve don’t work for me. Let’s hope the away kit is better. Have a look below.

And Finally……..

A lot has to happen behind the scenes at Arsenal come summer and buying two-three players will not be enough. We have way too many useless and detrimental players at the club. Ship them out and spend some f*cking money. City are about to win the league by doing that and yet they can’t beat us on a normal day, imagine if we had a better squad.

The jury has to be out on Wenger, he’s a failure and he has failed once again, don’t tell me how he’s done great because he put us in this mess and at the end of the day, he’ll pocket a fat cheque, we’ll sell our best players and replace them with kids/useless ones.

There’s a lot that needs to happen and I pray it happens first, but most importantly a win at West Brom would allow us know what direction we’re going in. Enjoy.

Last Home Game Of The Season : The Norwich Preview. 3 Points A Must

*rolls credits* What a season. We witnessed RVP have a phoenix-esque season and maturity from squad players such as Gibbs, Szczesny. Alex Song stood out alongside midfield maestro Arteta. 2012 was also the year of the Ox, while Wilshere did not make one single appearance. Needless to say it’s been a mental season.

The curtains come closing on the Emirates for this season with this fixture. Usually we’re already guaranteed of our league position at this stage, last time we weren’t sure was 2005. Are we gonna need to pull a Sp*rs on Sp*rs and Newcastle this season like we did then? I hope not.

The midweek fixtures did not favor us at all as both Spurs & Toon won to cut the gap to one. Our fault really. Had we picked up more than one point from the Wigan & Stoke fixtures we won’t be here. But we are, so we do what we allways do because we are the Arsenal. We’ll be needing the fixtures to work in our favor this weekend though.

Norwich are guaranteed Premier League football for another season so here’s hoping they put in a lethargic shift, they won’t be no pushovers, no sir, just ask Sp*rs. These are the kind of games that can go 3 ways. We win emphatically. We get the win regardless of the scoreline. Or we get stung by them. I’m hoping for the former 2 like gooners worldwide. They have no serious injury worries.

Us on the other hand have a ton and Diaby is finally out of the season(surprise. No really we all are) and the Euros. The game comes to soon for Walcott who should make the West Brom finale. Arteta and Wilshere are longterm absentees with Mertesacker too. So expect the same team that faced Stoke with one or 2 changes. Here’s how I would line up :

Predicted Line Up : Szczesny-Sagna-Kozzer-Vermaelen-Gibbs-Song-Ramsey-Rosicky-Benayoun-AOC-RVP .

Prediction : Arsenal 3-1 Norwich

Keep Gervinho on the bench, start AOC, we need pace and precision, Ramsey has one last chance to ease the anger of the fans I hope he grabs it well. I thought he was decent at Stoke, Gervinho was poor.

Tomorrow is also important as it’s “Pat Rice Day”. Wenger’s number 2 has been with the club for over 40 years as a player and manager. Wow. That’s a lot. He’s retiring at the end of the season so let’s ramp up the noise and show some love and appreciation. The game is also Arsene’s 900th game in charge. The 3points cannot be overstated.

Before I go I’d like to offer my condolences to the family of former Nigerian striker Rashidi Yekini. He passed away yesterday night due to mental illness at the age of 49. Easily the greatest striker out of my country. He’ll be remembered for his famed post goal celebration when he put his hands through the net to rejoice. RIP.

Success to the lads today. COYG

OFFICIAL : Arsenal Sign Podolski Confirmed By Player Himself.

Breaking news just reaching us is that Arsenal have officially completed the signing of German International Lukasz Podolski for a fee believed to be in the region of £10.9M. After months of rumors and speculation, the news is finally confirmed. Podolski had this to say about the deal.

“Arsenal provides opportunity to gain individual development and experience at a top European top club. I will always have FC Cologne in my heart, but Arsenal is a great opportunity in my career”

Just a day after confirming that Arsenal have been over reliant on RVP for the goals this season, he made his move on Podolski and it had been agreed since but the two clubs decided to put it on hold till season’s end.

For those wondering, despite playing for a team in the relegation mix pretty much all season, Podolski has 18 goals and 6 assists in 26 games. He’s definitely no Chamakh and his versatility(can play LF, RF & CF) is one welcomed by we fans.

With Podolski confirmed, and word from an inside source that Arsene wants to complete all his deals before the European Championship starts, you can expect the likes of M’vila(most likely to sign), Vertoghen/Giroud/Belhanda to follow suit. Great business it would be and just the right incentive for RVP to extend his contract. Have a great day.

Birthday Blues : Walcott Is VERY Important To Arsenal

Theo Destroying Chelsea Earlier This Season

Theo Destroying Chelsea Earlier This Season

GOOD MORNING!!! to you all from wherever, I’ve been told if you type in caps it means you’re shouting. Now that I have your attention, its my birthday today (and the crowd goes wild!!!) so I’m feeling very good about the day. Talking of birthday’s yesterday Theo Walcott turned 23 and my oh my has he had a roller coaster professional career so far. He’s the focus of today’s post. Before that, here’s a post I wrote 2 years ago about The Real Theo Walcott , have a read if you want.

Cometh the man, cometh the hour, James Theo Walcott(like Lebron James, my favorite basketballer) would always have the spotlight on him and has become a target for angry/moody fans and the naysayers but its easy to forget he’s just 23 and he’s continually played out of position. You can’t blame him, as a teenager Sven Goran Eriksson(the then English manager) exposed him to such and should I say, he’s “never really recovered”. And being English again doesn’t help his cause.

You can argue that he’s been played in the best position where his speed can be utilized and then you’ll slate him again for being all speed and no brain, lack of ability to cut into his marker and cause damage. I’ll always defend the lad even though he’s mighty frustrating.

I followed Theo since his Southampton & England U19/U21 days and he was dubbed the “new michael owen” because of his finishing. High praise for him you might say but it was well deserved. He played off the main striker and used his pace to devastating effect banging in the goals left and right. But since becoming a first team member he’s been forced to spend time on the sideline which he’s done his job admirably without complaints.

Yes he can’t do the simple things at times, yes he overhits a cross sometimes and yes his finishing is erratic sometimes but for all this mentioned, he’s improved and gotten better. Van Persie credits him for assisting most of his goals and his hot form as a result of Theo’s selfless play and he showed that by handing the Englishman his Man of the match champagne after the NLD derby. Even Leo Messi rates him as one of the best players he’s played against.

Is Walcott really as bad as they make him out to be? Or are the fans ungrateful and too hard on him. Here’s something you should consider next time you want to boo the lad.

English Wingers In The EPL

    Stewart Downing : 27 appearances 0 goals 0 assists

    Ashley Young : 17 appearances 4 goals 7 assists

    Adam Johnson : 21 appearances 5 goals 2 assists

    Aaron Lennon : 15 appearances 3 goals 3 assists

    Theo Walcott : 27 appearances 5 goals 8 assists

As you can see for yourself, only Ashley Young rivals Theo this season and Young is a proper winger while Walcott is a forward playing on the wings. Again, if you’re not impressed, try putting some of the league’s best strikers on the wings in a 4-3-3 formation or any kind and see if they flourish or do any good, Hernandez for example.

Look at Bendtner, he was played consistently out wide and did not like it and it did not yield positive results but at Sunderland, he’s the main man and he’s banging in goals, he has more goals than Gervinho/Park & Chamakh put together. That buttresses my point.

Get off Theo’s back and cheer him on, a player can only deal with so much abuse. He has 16months left on his contract, if he’s not that good, the club won’t be trying to tie him down to a new deal and RVP loves him so I see no reason why you shouldn’t.

We’re not in action this weekend due to FA Cup games, but we’ll be on tuesday at Goodison Park. That should be a great on. From wherever you’re reading, go on and have a nice day. I know I will. Cheers.

Wilshere ‘Set For Return’ & Arsenal Gunning For 3rd

Lovely weekend it was unless of course you’re Andre Vilas-Boas, the Chelsea manager got the sack yesterday…wait what am I saying? Just thought of how much he stands to make from his sevarance package and all of a sudden, he’s the winner. Boo hoo. He’s always been a small fish in a big pond and the cabal of Terry-Lampard-Drogba was just too much for him in the end.

This past month has just been great for us gooners(if you exclude the Milan & Wearside games), four consecutive wins, Van Persie’s hot streak knowing no end so far and now the good news that Wilshere is set to boost our run for champions league qualification. Lovely. Oh yeah good morning from wherever. Straight to the post then.

Jack Wilshere
Jack Wilshere has returned to training according to Arsenal manager but he assured everyone he’s not closer to making a return, meaning he’s not match fit but is training with the ball I guess…..he had this to say.

“We have good news but Jack isn’t close to a comeback. The last scan was good and he can start to jog again so he is on his way back. But we have to be cautious with him. I hope to have him back before the end of the season, but we go step by step”

His return would boost us and I’d like to see him play at least one-two games with Van Persie so as not to miss out on what is the dutchman’s best season ever.

Speaking of the dutchman, oh how I love RVP, he deserves all the credit for our season so far and the lovely connection between him & Alex Song is just marvelous. The goals at Anfield are still playing in my head. Top man.

Gunning For 3rd & Milan…..
Our very poor & history-less & pretty much noisy neighbors have been the toast of our half of north london so far. I doubt they’re enjoying being our source of joy and entertainment. From having been behind them by 13points(when it was 2-0 down against them last week) now we’re just 4 points behind and yet we’re having our worst post-Wenger season.

Credit must go to a lot of people & media for helping Sp*rs capitulate but it all centers around Redknapp, from tax evasion to England coach speculation and his naïve substitutions against Arsenal where it ended 5-2 in our favor.

Special mention goes to AW who has gone through a lot(he put us there in the first place) but has steered the ship around and now not only are we on course to make champions league next season, we might end up above Sp*rs. Great achievement considering all we’ve been through & playing the season without Wilshere.

Milan…….
Wenger confirmed my worst fears when yesterday he said he won’t be resting Van Persie or anyone for that matter against Milan. Oh dear. Here’s how the Milan game can play out for us.

1) We win the match but lose the tie and important players pick up knocks.

2) We lose the match, lose the tie and important players pick up knocks.

3) We win the match, win the tie & no one picks up any knock.

4) We rest key players, win the match, lose the tie and the players are fit and fresh for the Newcastle game next week which is more important.

I want the 3rd option but that’s going to require a miracle after witnessing a 14 minute Zlatan Hattrick on saturday. The 4th option would be nice but knowing Wenger, he’ll never do that. Let’s pray for a miracle then.

I’ll be here tomorrow to give the preview on the Milan game. Have a great day and let’s know what you think in the comments.

P.S. Diaby is injured again, pulled a hamstring…..and grass is still green…. Gibbs & Benayoun also picked up knocks ruling them out of the Milan tie but Arteta has recovered and is fit. Great.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Preview : Team News & How To Win

“Thats why you mad? cuz im scoring all the goals?”

Arsenal kick off at lunch time tomorrow against Liverpool in high spirits and who can blame us? After last week’s mauling of Sp*rs. Sp*rs beat Liverpool 4-0 and we beat Sp*rs 5-2 so technically we should beat Liverpool by at least 5 goals right? I apologize for using the word Sh*t….sorry Sp*rs four times in one paragraph. :( . Well then, straight to the post.

PREVIEW…..
Arsenal vs Liverpool(especially at Anfield) is a tie that is known to cough up goals irrespective of whether its a league or cup game, remember Arshavin’s quadruple in the 4-4 at Anfield and the Baptista’s in the 6-3 in the League Cup a few years back.

The reverse fixture ended in a 2-0 win for the scousers with the goals coming after an ijury ridden Arsenal team had frimpong sent off and then an own goal with a Suarez goal settled the day. In truth, they were poor but the lack of cutting edge on our side also cost us the match. Of course this was pre Arteta-Mertesacker-Santos-Benayoun & Gervinho Song were also missing via bans.

The Liverpool team will be buoyed by their Carlin Cup win which brought an end to their six year trophy wait but Arsene reckons it will have no impact on the game. I hope it doesn’t.

The form book on this one is a swinging pendulum. Liverpool have only won once in 9meetings against us and have never done a league double over us. Advantage Arsenal. Liverpool are unbeaten at home and conceded the second fewest home goals this season. Advantage Liverpool. Arsenal have conceded more goals at Anfield in the Premier league than at any other ground while Liverpool have won just 2 of their last 9 league games. Tie.

TEAM NEWS…..
Daniel Agger misses out through injury and Gerrard is almost certain to miss out. I really don’t care for Gerrard, its not like he’s playing well, its Agger’s absence that delights me, meaning a makeshift defense for King Kenny. No news on Johnson but might be fit.

Arsenal have no new worries from the international break, RVP is fit and ready, Ramsey is out for a further 2 weeks(so too Santos). Djourou has a knock & Coquelin is out for four weeks.

HOW TO WIN…….
Liverpool have been very erratic this season, and the forms of both full backs have been a problem, Enrique started well but has struggled in recent times. Theo Walcott & Gervinho(or AOC or Benayoun, whoever Wenger goes with) would have to be on top form and I’d love to see Theo run into the channels through the middle.

Rosicky needs to be brilliant again like last week & prove it wasn’t a one off with another masterful display and we need to keep a tight unit at the back as the trickery of Suarez is going to be a problem.

Predicted Line-Up & Scoreline : Szczesny-Sagna-Vermaelen-Koscielny-Gibbs-Gervinho-Walcott-Song-Arteta-Rosicky-RVP

Liverpool 1:3 Arsenal

Win at Liverpool and pray Chelsea slip up at Bolton and it will be a great weekend. Let’s know what you think in the comments. Have a great day. Cheers.

Podolski ‘Set To Join’ Us | Santos Back in 2 Weeks | News Round Up.

Top of the morning to you wherever you’re reading this from, or should I say Hi 5-2 you all?. Well then, straight to the post shall we.

News broke yesterday and twittermania ensued that we’ve agreed terms with Lukasz Podolski to join us in the summer with the only thing remaining now is a deal with the club. I wanted to doubt it seeing as its season ticket renewal time but from what we heard, we agreed a couple of deals in January but agreeing with their respective clubs was the problem.

If this is true(which I believe it is) then that’s a good move and he’s NOT going to be a replacement for RVP. He’s very versatile and can play on the left of a 4-2-3-1(4-3-3) formation or behind the main striker or alone upfront as he’s done for Cologne thus far. So that’s one down, hopefully 3 more signings to come(a DM, AM, Winger).

Four players might not be enough but its a good start, because if you look at the players leaving us this summer(Arshavin,Bendtner,Chamakh,Squillaci,Denilson,Diaby(50:50),Benayoun(back to Chelsea) ) we should replace at least 3 of them and then promote from within. And don’t tell me about how signing established players will hinder growth, instead it only helps(look at United, Bayern & Barca to name a few). M’vila, Gotze, Hoiliet maybe? And then move Walcott forward? Let’s wait and see.

PLAYER NEWS

Andre Santos…….
The defender tweeted with his account yesterday that he’s back in 2 weeks and to me that’s great news as we all know Gibbs can’t play back to back games without a knock. So that’s very great news as we now have 2 LB’s and 2 RB’s(Sagna & Jenkinson) and won’t have to play anyone out of position again.

Someone asked me on twitter yesterday if I see Wenger buying a defender and I said NO. Why you ask? Well by beginning of next season, we’ll have Sagna, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Santos, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Mertesacker in the first team, that’s Seven defenders and I didn’t include Miquel, Bartley, Djourou.

Maraoune Chamakh…….

Fiorentina are rumored to be interested in taking the forward off our books permanently and I say we should jump at whatever offer as I’m sure he’s ready to leave. Will it leave us short when he, Park & Bendtner leave in the summer? Maybe. But if we can get the aforementioned players and with the attackers we have already, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Van Persie has been talking of late about his love for the club and the papers reported it this morning that he told the dutch coach he sees his future at Arsenal. Its simple, give him the salary he wants, if its 150k/w or 130k/w with a lot of add-ons and a huge signing off fee. He’ll stay because he loves the love club, he just wants to sit with the gaffer come end of season, know what the clubs plans are and then hopefully sign the extension/new deal.

No club football this midweek as its International week and a lot of our players will be in action. One game to look out for is England-Holland. I hope Van Persie is rested to keep him fresh. From wherever you are, have a solid day. Cheers.
