Joel Campbell Arrives London Today|Fabregas to undergo TWO Medicals.

Adios Cesc

Adios Cesc

Morning gooners! It’s the start of a new week and it is one which sees us finally say goodbye to our captain (or ex-captain) if you like, Cesc Fabregas.

Arsenal confirmed his departure yesterday and Cesc is due to be unveiled later today. However, considering his hasmtring problems, the Catalan giants want to be double-sure they are not buying a crock! Cesc is due to have two medicals, one at 7a.m, the other at 9:30a.m.

Other things being equal, he’ll sign at around 11:30a.m and will be unveiled about an hour later. It is sad to see the best midfielder in the world IMO leave us. Wenger has made a mistake of building his teams around Fabregas, now he’ll leave a huge gap for us to fill.

Whilst his conduct could have been a bit better, he gave us his best whenever he played. I loved him, I still love him now and I always will. Despite being the heartbroken one here, I see nothing wrong in allowing his pursue his dream. Adios Cesc! Best of Luck!!

Now onto matters Arsenal (as weird as that sounds), Young Guns Blog says Costa Rican striker, Joel Campbell will arrive in London this morning to complete his £930,000 move from Deportivo Saprissa, a Costa Rican record.

Saprissa President has confirmed the deal and also confirmed a partnership arrangement with Arsenal.

“We are extremely excited about this opportunity to strengthen our organization through the sharing of best practices Arsenal. We will be visiting London next month and in due time we will provide details of this relationship, which includes close collaboration on a number of issues, as well as the creation of a Saprissa-Arsenal Academy.”

Campbell also gave his opinion about the transfer:

“I’m very happy, very proud for my family, football and Costa Rica. Arsenal is a team that I’ve liked my whole life, and gives chances to young players. It’s a good team to show myself.”

He’s not been granted a work permit yet and will continue to train with the club while that is sorted out.

So that’s another signing in the bag for us, albeit not one we craved. In the wake of Cesc’s departure, a lot of names have been linked to us from Jadson, Marvin Martin, Valbuena to even Joey Barton.

Who do you consider to be the appropriate replacement for Fabregas, that is if like me, you believe he should be replaced? We haven’t signed THAT defender too, of those linked to us, which centre back would you sign?

As usual, let us know in the comments!

  1. We finally allowed Fabregas to leave. Thats the best thing for both parties. Our love for Fab shouldn’t allow us deny him his wishes. We all know that our well loved skipper has got a thing for Barcelona… being his childhood club and hometown. The only rational thing was to allow him realize his dream.
We need to continue post-Fabregas and win something this year. The fans deserve a trophy and i hope Arsene knows this too.
I saw clips of Campbell on youtube and i must say, i was impressed with what i saw. But his he a short term solution or a long term one? We aren’t even sure if he’ll be granted a work permit.
Back to the CB signing…. Its looking more like Arsene might just carry on with his usual disposition and not sign a CB… Having denied the sales of Fab and Samir in the press on Friday, and Fab signing with Barca a few hours later, one can’t really know what next with Arsene…. Tongue in cheek as usual?
I’ll keep my fingers crossed though.
Lastly, someone please tell Gervinho that he’s in England now and not France.. so such retaliations on the field are not permissible. We’ll lose him for some games but i hope we’ll be stronger without him.

  2. Obyno arsene nwankwo

He loves Arsenal any time anyday QED. Dis was shown wen he dicided “it’s barca or no other than Arsenal” I wish him well and he will surely do well.

  3. Carmelo Pace malta

@timmy,i quite agree with your comment regarding cervino,BUT be honest,in his place what would you have done? remember that ICEBERG treated him like a little boy dragging him that way in front a full house. In cervinos place i would have kicked his teeth in.

  4. i wish fabregas best of luck

  5. Stronghand Gudi

Wenger should get us jadson as fabregas replacement

  6. all the best young man Cesc Fabregus

  7. Sad to see you leave fab. As gooners we wish you all da best… I think Jadson can be a replicant. Mata could do well for us too.

  8. I don’t care how wenger does it we have to replace him now and also Nasri. Just take a look back at our midfield on Saturday, only the lobbed pass from rosicky to RVP had that quality. So arsenalFC have now been reduced to that team that produces one killer pass per game. Smh. I won’t be a fan of that team :|. I hate wenger at the moment and he would never that away till he wins a trophy. We have Udinese on Tuesday. We better win or the idiot should kiss his spot as a manager of AFC goodbye (better for us btw). I’ll even prefer pat rice or steve bould as manager atm. Sheeesh.L8r mein

  9. cesc fabby,u’ll greatly be missed.i dont know yet who will be capable to fill d vacum u’ll leave.anyway,i luv u but barca loves u dan i do.wish u gudluck.gud bye.

  10. Everyone seems to agree that allowing Cesc to leave is best for all parties involved.

@Baazini: Nasri has not left yet, so what’s with this talk of replacing him? You won’t be a fan of that team? How do you mean?

In my opinion, while Gervinho should not have hit Bart*n, it would have been really difficult not to react to what that thug did to him.

There are now talks of Song serving a 3-match ban for that stamp on Barton. We keep losing players, don’t we?

  11. about the replacement of Fabregas i would suggest that the midifilder who can replace him almost totaly should be Matta but because he is now expensive than before jadson can replace captain but i dont think he would like Matta… About the central defender Cahill from bolton will be the right man for our team because he is magic feet, good and strong defender

  12. phil jagielka, gary cahill, loic remy, douglas costa
