Arsenal Consolidate 3rd Spot With Wolves Win + Player Ratings

Good night for the Gunners this as goals from RvP from the spot and Walcott soon after put us on our way to a 3-0 win at bottom club Wolves, Yossi Benayoun wrapping up the night for us at Molineux.

That puts us five ahead of the Sillywhites and Newcastle as third place looks assured with five matches left to play and nine wins in 10 matches is a good run to carry into the run-in.

Straight to the ratings then:

Another relatively quiet match for the Pole but showed great awareness with two top draw saves early and late in the second half. The former to deny Doyle’s header was classic.

Good game and good work rate from him. Got replaced late on by Jenkinsom.

Solid performance from him. Hope he keeps it up when Wigan visit. Wigan by the way beat Man. United and added a good twist to the title race.

An assured perfomance, as almost always from him.

I’m not sure why he bothered. Attacked much but his defending was suspect a lot of times.

Quietly anchored the midfield superbly.

Complemented Arteta well, and bagged an assist yet again… this time for Benayoun rather than you know who.

Oh dear. Hesitated when he should’ve taken a first time shot at goal. Had a clear penalty shout waved away but generally lived down to expectations.

Gets a 7 only because he got a goal and won us the penalty that saw Sebastien Bassong get sent off, otherwise wasn’t exceptional.

Good work rate yet again and got himself a well taken goal from the edge of the box.

You’d think some confidence would’ve drained from him after going four matches without scoring… then he does that from the penalty spot. He scores when he wants and apparently, how he wants. Vintage stuff.

So next up for us is the red devils’ unlikely conquerors Wigan Athletic on Monday and from what we’ve seen the Latics play in their last two matches, it’s safe to say we have a cracking encounter coming up.

Do tell a gooner to follow us on twitter @goonermemoirs, see you Monday night.

  1. Ramsey wasn’t that bad only that lady goals isn’t with him during this time we all saw the last chance he had he was brought down but be4 that a superb save from the goalie denied him.Santo was quite okay only that he was found out of position by the lose balls from the right wing.

  2. Good rating keep it up

  3. Arsenal great run is down 2 arteta in midfied.

  4. Theo was just average…! i 1da wat he wud b lik wit out his pace (worst dan ramsey)…his futball education is stil poor…theo stil nid more basics π tutorin…i tink ramsey (if gifted wit pace wud have been ǻ betta player compared 2 theo)… How ever i rate theo 5! & ramsey 4.5!

  5. Ramsey never disappoint, knew he’s gonna score d lowest. Get this to monsieur to flush this boy who’s refused to learn. Thank GOD we won anyway………ramsey must leave!!!!!!

  6. Ramsey was solid today, were you watching with sunglasses on?

  7. Ramsey played well!!! Almost scored and made a lot of completed passes!!! 30 in the first half alone with 3 incomplete ones and he must of ran the most out of the gunners!

  8. Ramsey was bad again. He gives the ball away consistently and he is no threat to score. His shooting is terrible. He only looks for back passes and doesn’t have the creativity to generate offense. Even Song generates more offense. Arsenal are better when he is on the bench. If Wilshere and Diaby ever get healthy I don’t think Ramsey will see much playing time. Benayoun and Rosicky are much more creative and effective than Ramsey. BTW, Djourou is a nightmare and a huge liability.

  9. Kunle the analyser.

Djorou had a good game to be fair! Not a liability you must be thinking of Santos who was and is a bad buy, Leighton Haines should have been pursued.
Ramsey is ineffective, no creativity and does not provide chances. Szcesny deserves more praise then has been given- when called into action done well, if conceded the header to make it 2-1 it could have been a totally different ending.

  10. I also critisize Ramsey a lot but today he did much better.

We need to take the Wgan game serious and start both Rosciky and Benayoun.

  11. Steve of Chiang Mai

Gee some of you are harsh….Santos hasn’t played for what 4 months and this was his first full game. Get a life guys these are humans who play well some times and have off days sometimes….they are not like your little players on FIFA. Fortunately the Manager doesnt read what the half wits say on blogs or he might have tossed Koscielny last year when everyone was saying he was crap.

  12. Walcott “otherwise wasn’t exceptional” – no, he was terrible in the second half.
As the commentator said: “Apart from those fantastic first ten minutes he’s lost every ball tonight”.
I guess Theo thought he’d done his job after scoring and switched off after that – whereas Ramsey worked his socks off all night.
I simply can’t understand Wenger in situations like this: Why doesn’t he set an example and haul off Theo at half time – or even before? What he did after his goal just wasn’t acceptable, and the manager should tell him that.

And why the f… can’t Wenger forget his own silly rules of no subs in the first 67 minutes when he has the opportunity?
2-0 up against a bottom team with no spirit and down to 10 men why doesn’t he rest RvP in the second half? Why doesn’t he put on Jenkinson to give him some match practice instead of our terrible and sloppy Brazilian left back? Why doesn’t he give The Ox the chance to gain some rhythm in his play by letting him play 45 (or 60) minutes?
Wenger is so stubborn and unable to adjust to what’s happening on the field.
But hey, he’s winning, so of course my case is weak…

  13. Arsenal 4 life.d team is playing superbly @ d moment & we’re keeping d faith.
