Record Breaking Day: £25m M’Vila bid|Hazard wants to come + Other Stories

It’s the last day of the transfer window and clubs are eagerly putting finishing touches to the business this summer.

After months of relative inactivity, the club board is finally doing what the fans want. In less than a week, we’ve signed Park Chu Young (£3m) and deals for Santos and Mertesacker (combined worth of £14.1m) are at an advanced stage.

But if the stories making rounds are anything to go by, we will break our transfer record before the end of today. So straight to the gist.

Arsenal will lodge a £25million bid to prise Yann M’Vila from Rennes. The highly rated France international is Wenger’s main target and the manager is increasingly confident he can deliver a signing that would serve as a huge statement of intent.

Le Boss has received excellent reports on the qualities of M’Vila and his ability to bring greater steel to a midfield that has been found lacking in the opening Premier League fixtures of the season. Signing him probably means Wilshere will get a more advanced role, with M’Vila and Song covering for him.

Reports late last night indicate that Eden Hazard on French TV has made known his intention to quit Lille and sign for Arsenal. This comes after days of denials of the possibility of any bid by Lille and the player himself.

Hazard forged an hazardous (pun well intended) partnership with Gervinho last season in Lille which saw them win the League. I’m sure Arsenal fans won’t mind them linking up at the Emirates once again. I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you though.

There were also talks of Chamakh going on loan to France or Spain. I doubt this will happen though, as Wenger last week that said the main reason for purchasing another striker is because we’ll lose Chamakh to the African Nations Cup in January. That means the boss still sees him at the club in January.

Things can change really quickly though, so we cannot rule out the possibility of Cham29 leaving on loan. Bendtner meanwhile looks more likely to leave, and there have been rumours of a swap deal with Schalke for Klass Jan Huntelaar. I honestly don’t know what to make of that.

With the expected signing of Santos and Mertesacker, talks of Cahill and Samba have understandably died down. If Per joins, he’ll partner TV5 in centre defence and they’ll be flanked by Sagna and Santos. Koscielny and Djourou will serve as cover.

I don’t see Cahill or Samba leaving their starting positions to settle for a place on the bench at Arsenal. Anything is possible though, we do not know how things will play out, and what prevents us from having 4 top CBs at the club?

We’ve been linked to a lot of players (arguably the most for any team) and today won’t be any different. Prepare to get news of 50 player flying into London for Arsenal medicals today.

Before I go, I’ll leave you with my idea of how today will go.

Out: Almunia, Squillaci, Bendtner

In: Santos, Mertesacker, M’Vila.

What do you think? Will we sign more players? Should we even sign more players? Do let us know in the comments!

Hazard, Cahill, M’vila + 1 striker to sign?|Man United – Arsenal Preview

Top of the morning gooners! It’s the end of a week that has seen our fortunes change slightly whilst some fundamental components of the team set up maintained status quo.

In the win against Udinese, we saw a different side to this young Arsenal team and we also saw how far away it is from being a major threat in the EPL and in Europe. Arsene probably saw this too (or we hope he did), hence the players being strongly linked to us since Wednesday.

Gary Cahill is a perfect place to start from; and it is heart warming to know Arsenal put in a bid for him albeit its being referred to as derisory.

Even though Arsene was adamant about the worth of our initial bid, the £6m being bandied around seems a fair price to me, for a player with one year left on his contract.
And if you still think £6m is too small, you can take solace in the knowledge that it’s only the opening bid. Bolton “have” to sell or risk losing him for free next summer.

In our previous post, we broke the news on Bolton’s loan deal for Man City defender Deidrick Boyata. The only way I don’t see Cahill signing for us is if another team comes into the equation or if they decide keep him this season, and let him leave for £0m. Both scenarios highly unlikely.

Reports are rife in France that Lille have agreed a deal in the region of €35m for winger Eden Hazard. It must be noted though that a lot of “credible” sources have said nothing of such.

One thing we know is if truly both clubs have agreed a deal, it is more than likely that he has agreed personal terms. While I’m not exactly sure we need a winger at the moment, a player of Hazard’s quality is most welcome.

Same reports indicate that Wenger is confident of securing the services of Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila for a reported fee of £23m.

Even though the club has come out to say their star midfielder won’t be leaving, it is believed that all they want is more money for their prized asset. Watch this space!

Wenger said he hopes to add another striker before the window shuts, as he expects Bendtner to leave the club. The identity of the striker is unknown at the moment but the mere thought of it gives me joy. That means we won’t have to rely on Chamakh for goals should RVP be unavailable.

We visit Old Trafford tomorrow in the best of spirits. OT has not been a particularly fruitful place to visit for us and tomorrow’s game won’t be any easier. Barring a dramatic signing before then, I expect us to field a weaker team than the side that won in midweek.

Wilshere,Gibbs and Diaby are out injured, Gervinho, Song and Frimpong are suspended. Koscielny is fit again though and it will be interesting to see how we start in midfield.

Predicted Starting XI: Sz13; Jenkinson, TV5, Koscly, Sagna; Djourou, Ramsey, Rosicky; Arshavin, RVP, Walcott.

As optimistic as I am, it is difficult to see beyond a Man United victory. That is not to say we will just lie down and let them beat us. We need to go out there to fight, and who knows, Lady Luck may just have a thing for us that afternoon.

That’s it from me today, but just before I go, I’ll like to share an article I stumbled upon with y’all. To those blaming and abusing Wenger for not bringing players in, you MAY just be wrong. See for yourselves.

On that note, have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the game wherever you watching from.
